With the development of the industry, two-for-one twisters (TFOs) – a key category of twisting machines – can be divided into three main types, as follows:

310-type Filament Yarn Two-for-one Twister (typically handling packages of 0.8–1.5 kg)
Short Fiber Yarn Two-for-one Twister (typically handling packages of 1–3 kg)
Large Package Two-for-one Twister (typically handling packages of 3 kg and above)

A two-for-one twister operates on the core principle that one rotation of the spindle creates two twists in the yarn.

1. 310-type Filament Yarn Two-for-one Twister

It is specifically designed for chemical fiber processing, tailored for small packages within the 0.8–1.5 kg range.In production, this machine requires a matching bobbin winder. Currently, due to low profit margins, European and Japanese manufacturers have ceased production of such equipment; almost all filament yarn TFOs are now manufactured in China, and their end products are widely used in fabric manufacturing.

Classified by spindle type (with applicable cup diameters of 90mm and 110mm), two-for-one twisters fall into three categories:Oil-adding spindle type, Fixed spindle type, Open-close spindle type.

2. Short Fiber Yarn Two-for-one Twister

It is specifically designed for cotton yarn processing, typically handling packages of 1–3 kg.In production, it requires a matching doubling machine, which combines 2 to 3 plies of yarn before feeding them into the twister.Currently, Japanese manufacturer MURATEC, Italian SAVIO, Swiss Oerlikon Textile, and SAURER remain leaders in the development of short fiber yarn TFOs. The spindle cup diameter of this type usually ranges from 110mm to 200mm, with common specifications including 146mm, 166mm, and 196mm.

3. Large Package Two-for-one Twister

It is specifically designed for industrial yarn processing, typically handling packages of 3 kg and above.Most models can directly use DTY yarn rolls, which helps reduce rewinding costs.The spindle cup diameter is usually over 200mm, with common specifications such as 225mm, 250mm, 275mm, and 320mm. Currently, this type of TFO is mainly manufactured by Chinese suppliers.
